THE TIME TUNNEL TURNS 60
On Friday 9th September 1966, Irwin Allen’s series The Time Tunnel made its entrance on to our television screens. 60 years later, it has stood the test of time. Not only have fans from the 1960’s kept this series in their hearts, but also new generations have enjoyed discovering the series with frequent re-runs since the 1990’s. High quality DVD and online streamings of the series have followed.
The Internet has made it easier to rediscover your favourite shows and the love for a show like The Time Tunnel inspired a 2002 pilot with a re-imagining of the series, followed by news in 2025 that Legendary Television is exploring options for Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, The Time Tunnel, and Land of the Giants following the success of Lost in Space on Netflix. Big Finish Productions have developed full cast audio adventures which have further illustrated that there is still a lot of mileage story-wise for a Time Tunnel theme. How many of us right now would like to travel back 60 years in this very time tunnel to see this series being produced?
You can still find collectibles associated with The Time Tunnel including games, comics, models, collector’s cards, photos, etc. Original props go for very healthy prices at prominent auction houses.
Who knows what the next 60 years will be like, but it would be helpful to have access to a time tunnel to explore.

The 15th July 2026 Heritage Hollywood & Entertainment Signature® Auction #7332 features four Irwin Allen items including two Lost in Space costumes, the Vulcan Submarine from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and City Beneath the Sea, and Steve McQueen’s own bound copy of The Towering Inferno script including his personal notes in the script.

GOLDIN.CO AUCTION 21 JANUARY 2026
The seller of a couple of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea prop items has asked us to spread the word about the upcoming auction where they appear for sale. The Goldin.co 2026 Winter Hollywood Memorabilia Auction on Wednesday 21 January 2026 features two Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea TV props. The first is an original dagger prop used in the episode Cave of the Dead. The second item appears to be a blueprint for the sectional layout plan of the Seaview drawing that you see as a framed picture on the Missile Room wall in the episode Deadly Creature Below.
Has anyone spotted this dagger prop in any other Voyage episodes or Irwin Allen television shows? If so, please do let us know.
Both auction items come with a Letter of Provenance signed by Virginia Aaron, the wife of David Aaron, who worked in the prop department at 20th Century Fox and who had these items in his collection for several decades.

JUNE LOCKHART
So soon after the 60th anniversary celebrations for Lost in Space comes the devastating news that the actress June Lockhart has passed away, on Thursday 23rd October 2025. June played matriarch of the Robinson Family, Maureen, in Irwin Allen’s Lost in Space. She had a long and illustrious career, starting with a small role with her acting parents (Gene and Kathleen Lockhart) in the 1938 A Christmas Carol, and appearing in classic movies such as Meet Me in St. Louis (with Judy Garland). For a generation of viewers though, she will forever be Maureen Robinson.

There are new journeys through history for Safiyya Ingar and Seán Carlsen in Irwin Allen’s The Time Tunnel: The Dimensions of Time, a box set of full-cast audio drama, due February 2026.
Big Finish Productions’ revival of Irwin Allen’s 1966-67 cult classic TV series The Time Tunnel, under licence from Legendary Entertainment, returns in 2026 with a second volume of three episodes.
In the previous box set, February’s The Nightmare Begins, Captain Lewis Haworth (Seán Carlsen), young hacker MB (Safiyya Ingar), dark web operative Cole Smith (Jay Reum), and marine biologist Clare MacGregor (Rachel Handshaw) found themselves in a changed world, controlled by the sinister Rakervia.
In a secret military base in Arizona, they reactivated the Time Tunnel and set out across history, on a mission to track down the lost scientists Tony Newman and Doug Phillips, and restore the world as it should be.
That quest continues in the three new episodes that make up the second box set, The Dimensions of Time. This time around, the tunnel takes our heroes to New York at the time of the Stonewall uprising, France during the Hundred Years War, and the doomed Titanic.

Richard Chamberlain, star of Irwin Allen’s The Towering Inferno and The Swarm passed away late evening on 29th March 2025 in Hawaii, just 2 days short of his 91st birthday. Aside from his adventures in Irwin Allen movies, Richard was well known for his starring roles in Dr. Kildare in the early 1960s and in television movie series such as The Thorn Birds and Shogun in the early 1980s.
